Classes typically start with a discussion about materials and a step by step demonstration which students follow along with on their own artworks

Students continue creating studies and finished artworks with an emphasis on achieving new levels of skills in drawing, composition, tone, colour, technique, finish and individual expression

Introduction to Watercolour

Tuesday 13th January, 1-4pm

Learn how to create using watercolour. In this 3 hour class learn the basics while enjoying this colourful, free flowing medium. Janet will show you different techniques and provide inspiration with demonstrations, reference material and subject matter to work from as well as allowing creative freedom to produce some small, finished studies. There is a materials list for this class

Introduction to Acrylic Painting, Landscape

Wednesday 14th January 10am-3pm (12-1pm lunch break)

Create a finished landscape in a day using acrylic paints on canvas.

Janet will show the steps involved in creating a finished landscape painting starting with toning the canvas, drawing your composition and using acrylic paints. She will encourage you to produce a beautiful finished painting. Photo reference provided or bring your own photographs to work from. There is a materials list for this class

Life Drawing

Thursday 15th January 1-4pm

Work from a live, nude model to produce quick studies and a finished life drawing using charcoal and a limited palette, or full palette, of pastels

Janet will encourage you to sketch the figure quickly using short poses to strengthen life drawings skills and warm up before working on a longer pose. She will demonstrate composition, sketching the figure, measuring proportions and angles within the figure, using pastel to render the form and finishing techniques. There is a materials list for this class

Introduction to Pastel, Still life

Tuesday 20th January 10am-3pm (12-1pm lunch break)

Janet will show the steps involved in creating a finished still life study using the beautiful, soft medium of pastel on paper from a still life set up for the session. She will demonstrate step by step the drawing of the composition and then using pastel to create form and colour. She will encourage you to produce a beautiful, finished, pastel still life of your own. There is a materials list for this class
